The Castle, Battersea closes and faces destruction

Sunday 20 January 2013

The Castle in Battersea has lost its fight to stay open and now faces being demolished.

On Monday 14th January, Wandsworth Borough Council accepted planning permission which includes demolition of the pub to be replaced with a four-storey building consisting of flats and a ground floor for commercial use.

Whilst the plans allow the developers, Languard Investments, to use the ground floor as a pub, the increased rent on the property (over 100% rent increases) makes its continued usage as a pub unlikely.
