The Castle, Battersea rallies for a fight back against demolition

Friday 15 March 2013

In January, we reported sad news that the owners of The Castle in Battersea had lost its fight to stay open and faced grave danger of being knocked down.

However, community group, Castle Supporters, have not given up the cause and are campaigning to have the pub recognised as an Asset of Community Value by Wandsworth Council.

Earlier this week, The Chesham Arms was listed as having community value by the Borough of Hackney, following a long campaign.

The campaign to save The Castle has quickly gained pace with over 250 people within a week having signed the petition to keep the preserve the building's usage as a pub.
